Born and raised in Durban, South Africa,as of 2005 McClure resides in Vancouver, British Columbia.

In 2008, in support of the Babz Chula Lifeline for Artists Society, which was raising money for their friend and fellow Canadian actor Chula's cancer treatment, McClure and her Battlestar Galactica colleague Tahmoh Penikett auctioned off the opportunity to have dinner with both of them in Vancouver.

McClure became a popular young star through roles on Fox Family's teen drama Higher Ground (along with Jewel Staite, Hayden Christensen), as well as the NBC's Saturday-morning series Just Deal. She scored a lead role with her first ever audition, playing opposite Lou Diamond Phillips in the 1999 telefilm In a Class of His Own. She portrayed the recurring character of Elizabeth Munroe on Showtime's Jeremiah

McClure won acclaim from a host of major newspaper critics for her role as Sue Snell in the 2002 telefilm remake of Stephen King's Carrie.

From 2003 to 2009 she played Anastasia "Dee" Dualla on the Sci Fi Channel's Peabody Award-winning Battlestar Galactica. McClure's character, a Petty Officer Second Class in the Colonial Fleet, was not featured per se in the original 1978 series, but was initially an analogue of Sarah Rush's original series character, Flight Corporal Rigel. McClure was a regular cast member until January 2009.

McClure recently narrated part of an audiobook METAtropolis "The Red in the Sky is Our Blood" (The Dawn of Uncivilization) by Hugo Award-winning author Elizabeth Bear.

She has completed filming on the movies Broken Kingdom and Cole, as well as a TV adaptation of Stephen King's Children of the Corn, all set for release in 2009.

She has started shooting Persons Unknown - a new TV series said to be a psychological drama and a cross between The Prisoner, Lost and The Twilight Zone.

McClure will reprise her role Donna in the ABC Family sequel Santa Baby 2, which is set to premiere on ABC Family sometime in December 2009.
